The Autocross will be at Waldron, September 6-7

Where is Waldron? Look on the map page.

Hi we are the South Texas Border Region #69 of the Sports Car Club of America. If it has to do with turning and burning in South Texas we probably have our fingers (and right foot) planted firmly on it.

Cruise through our site to learn how to become involved our kind of motor sports.

There are many activities you can participate in at an event, including DRIVING!!!

What class does my car run? The national SCCA site has their Solo rule book on line. Here is the link.

New Information

To encourage more people to work their assignments, times will only be given to those who stay and work. If you have to leave talk to Patrick about it and it should be OK.

Thanks for all of the photographs. I took the liberty of some slight editing.

Time Attack

We will work with Joey to get a Time Attack going later in the year.

Most of our events will be on the first full weekend of the month.

The course layout will be on the Solo page when we get one.

Would you like to be notified of upcoming events and meetings? Then let Randy Bissell know at .

The new 2008 calendar is up. The September event will be the 6th and 7th.

The meeting is the second Wendnesday of the month. See you on August 13.

The top time of the August event was Karl Christmas at 56.069.

Watch here often as the schedule may change. We now have a new schedule.

The fee is $25.00 for SCCA members and $30.00 for nonmembers.

The nonmember fee will be $35.00.

Check the map page for directions.

The course will be new for Waldron. No sketches yet.

We can now have STBR logos on clothing and hats from EmbroidMe on SPID, westbound, just west of Weber close to Kinko's.

Remember! if you want to run you need to volunteer as a course worker. We can't start until every duty station is filled.

Starting in January we will only have to work one run at a time. For this to work you need to stay and work your shift.

If you do not stay for your shift without making arrangements with Patrick the times will not be recorded.

Do you enjoy autocross but you want MORE? Club racing may be for you. See SCCA.COM for more info.

If you have a video you made at an event and want to put it on the site, email me.  I can copy and edit the video for the web. Yes, I can come to your house and copy the tape to my camera for editing. Just ask, because of the size, any but a brief clip will be too large to E-mail, the tape to tape transfer is the best.

There have been rumors of people riding with out safety equipment!

Waldron Field named for WWII Hero, Lieutenant Commander John C. Waldron

Waldron Field was named 5 March 1943, prior to establishing of station, in honor of Lieutenant Commander John C. Waldron, killed in action leading the attack of Torpedo Squadron 8 in the Battle of Midway; 4 June 1942. The former NAAS now an OLF to NAS Corpus Christi.

On August 10, 1941, Waldron became commander of Torpedo Squadron 8, based on the USS Hornet. Waldron was forty-one when he was killed in the Battle of Midway, the turning point of the war in the Pacific. Flying without fighter protection and without sufficient fuel in which to make it back to his carrier, Waldron, leading the rest of his Torpedo Squadron 8, delivered an attack against the Japanese on June 4, 1942. Battling fierce Japanese fire, Waldron’s squadron had little chance. He and others tried to escape their planes as they were hit, but few were successful. Of the fifteen planes and thirty men, only one officer lived to tell of the heroic leadership of Lt. Cmdr. Waldron. It is apparent that Waldron’s outstanding leadership motivated his men to die for him and with him and the cause for which they stood.

An airfield at Corpus Christi, Texas, was named for Cmdr. Waldron in April of 1943. A destroyer, USS Waldron, also became his namesake. In addition, a street in Ft. Pierre, South Dakota is named for John Waldron, WW II hero.

“Life should not be a Journey to the grave with the

intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well

preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, steering wheel

in one hand, shifter in the other, body thoroughly used

up, with tires totally worn out and screaming
